Privacy
The short version: no accounts, no tracking, no ads, and no personal data — ours or yours.
About you
- No accounts. There’s nothing to sign up for, so we don’t hold any user profiles, names, or emails — unless you choose to email us.
- No tracking or advertising. We don’t use analytics cookies, advertising trackers, or third-party profiling. We don’t sell data — we have none to sell.
- Standard hosting logs. Like any website, our host and CDN (Vercel, Cloudflare) process basic request metadata such as IP address and user-agent transiently to deliver the site securely. We don’t use it to identify or profile you.
- The map. If you use “near me”, your location is used in your browser to centre the map and is sent only as a coordinate to look up nearby consents — we don’t store it.
About the consent data we publish
Over the Fence is built from councils’ publicly published resource-consent lists, and we deliberately keep it to facts:
- We store address, application type, our own category, dates, status and the council’s consent reference.
- We never collect or store applicant or agent names, contact details, or other personal information, and we don’t republish councils’ verbatim descriptions.
- Each consent is attributed to its council and labelled with the month it is current “as of”.
This approach reflects the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020: we present property-attached facts, not information about identifiable individuals.
